OK, so I tried a "new" site to create a podcast, which I'm kind of excited about and look forward to sharing on Teachers2Teachers. The following is a breakdown, of sorts, of my experience(s) so far with trying to implement my project. I definitely feel my project in particular will be implemented much more easily at the beginning of the year. Try the link to the right, for an introduction on my Study Skills Tech Quest

Your introduction looks terrific. I tried to click on the "click here" spot but it did not do anything. Also, nice picture for the introduction.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your New Site share! FYI Edublogs is not friendly with it. I spent a lot of TIME trying to upload it to my Edublog with no success as you will notice I used a different program.
I understand when you say that you're trying to use simplicity in this TechQuest. It makes perfect sense that you don't want the kids to be overwhelmed. They really don't need any more stress than they already have!
ReplyDeleteHow amazing to hear about your student who you have already touched in a positive light (even if he was a 'math kid' he still counts!)
I am really excited to see your TechQuest up and running - please be sure to let us know when it's there. Your website has a really nice layout and is looking very organized. I'm sure the kids will appreciate that.
Have you decided exactly which part of your TechQuest you're going to focus on for this small part? You can just do one part of the project for this class and maybe finish it over the summer. It sounds like we've all got a lot on our plate right now!
Tracy,
ReplyDeleteIf you try the link now, it'll work. I'm glad you like the pic. It seemed to give the best fit, of the ones I found.
Kerry,
Thanks to your support with hiding pages. I've now got some hidden pages on my site. I started out mentioning some good for life habits, then start the kids into Study Skills with managing time, taking notes, and study area. I've yet to determine which page(s) will come first, but I'm not really sure the order will be important there.
I revisited your TechQuest project. The links work. I like how you started with the good life habits for they are the basis for learning to take place. I like the areas of focus. I too would like to know when you have it up and running.
ReplyDeleteOK, well it's pretty much up and ready to go. I kept my intro relatively simple and for now, only require the kids to blog about their use of study skills habits twice weekly. This will be an ongoing public journal for the students to share with their classmates.
ReplyDeleteThe hope is that the students will develop an awareness of their habits, which in turn will cause them to practice good habits more frequently. This would be somewhat similar to recording your food intake, when you're on a diet. Any suggestions anyone has are definitely welcome!
